The Opportunity

DASA is seeking a full-time Assessment Coordinator based in Alice Springs, NT. This leadership role is crucial in establishing and managing a new centralised assessment team, ensuring the effective intake of clients into DASA’s rehabilitation programs. You will oversee a small team of two Assessment Workers and collaborate closely with internal teams and external service providers.

Your key responsibilities include:

  • Leading and developing a new assessment team within DASA

  • Conducting and overseeing culturally safe client assessments (face-to-face and phone-based)

  • Coordinating intake processes and ensuring appropriate referral management

  • Collaborating with therapeutic leads, case managers, and external agencies

  • Ensuring compliance with DASA policies and quality improvement initiatives

  • Coordinating Centrelink enrolments and monitoring residents’ financial obligations

  • Providing leadership, supervision, and mentorship to the Assessment Workers

  • Preparing reports and data collection to support compliance and service improvements

About You

To thrive in this role, you will have:

  • Experience in a supervisory or leadership role within the community services sector

  • Strong understanding of assessment and intake processes

  • Skills in motivational interviewing, brief intervention, and risk screening tools

  • Exceptional communication and organisational skills

  • The ability to navigate change management and contribute to team development

  • High-level computer literacy and database management experience

  • A commitment to trauma-informed care and culturally competent service delivery

Additionally, the following qualifications and experience will be highly regarded:

  • Cert IV in Community Services (Alcohol & Other Drugs) – Highly Desirable

  • Experience with Mimaso client database or similar systems

  • Background in project management or change management

  • Experience in data collection, reporting, and compliance
