Drug and Alcohol Services Australia (DASA) is a well-established Central Australian not-for-profit organisation with more than 40 years of experience supporting individuals, families, and communities impacted by alcohol and other drug use.
Based in Alice Springs, DASA delivers trauma-informed, culturally safe, and evidence-based services designed to reduce harm and strengthen long-term community wellbeing. Working closely with Aboriginal communities, local organisations, and government partners, DASA plays an important role in supporting recovery, promoting resilience, and improving health outcomes across the region.
DASA delivers a range of impactful programs including the Sobering Up Shelter, Aboriginal Outreach Team, Methamphetamine Outreach Team, Prison In-Reach, Drink Driver Education Program, and the Aranda House Therapeutic Community. The organisation continues to grow and innovate, recently receiving funding to pilot a new Restorative Day Program designed to further support recovery pathways within the community.

Your Opportunity to Lead Community Programs

DASA is looking for a full-time Service Manager (Community Programs) based in Alice Springs, NT.
Reporting directly to the Deputy CEO, this leadership role oversees several key community programs while also playing a central role in developing DASA’s new Restorative Day Program pilot.
More specifically, your responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Leading the Methamphetamine Outreach Team (MOT), Aboriginal Outreach Team (AOT), and Sobering Up Shelter (SUS)
- Overseeing delivery of the Drink and Drug Driver Education Program and Prison In-Reach Program
- Supporting the development and implementation of DASA’s Restorative Day Program pilot, including developing facilitator manuals, fostering referral pathways, and driving continuous improvement
- Providing leadership, supervision, rostering, and performance management to multidisciplinary teams
- Ensuring programs operate in line with best-practice models, compliance frameworks, and Quality Improvement Council standards
- Managing incident reporting, operational planning, and program data collection
- Actively engaging in community events and activities, building genuine relationships through practical involvement such as hosting community BBQs, attending gatherings, and connecting directly with community members
- Representing DASA through stakeholder engagement, community outreach, and education initiatives
- Participating in the organisation’s on-call management roster (approximately once every six weeks)
- Managing program budgets and contributing to organisational leadership reporting
About You – A Leader Committed to Community Impact
To qualify, you will need a Diploma in Community Services, Alcohol and Other Drugs (AOD), Mental Health, or a related field. A minimum of 2 - 5 years’ experience in a relevant sector, including leadership or management responsibilities, will also be essential.
Additionally, the following skills and background will be highly valued:
- Demonstrated experience supervising teams, including rostering, performance coaching, and staff development
- Experience working with Aboriginal communities and delivering culturally responsive services
- Strong stakeholder engagement and relationship-building skills
- Experience managing multiple programs or operational service areas
- Experience with client management or HR systems such as Mimaso, ELMO, or similar
- Capability to develop, deliver, and evaluate community outreach or education programs
- Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE) (highly desirable)
- A current NT C Class Driver’s Licence and willingness to travel to remote communities when required
- Eligibility for an Ochre Card and National Police Clearance
- Willingness to participate in on-call management responsibilities
