Therapeutic Community Model

A Therapeutic Community (TC) is a structured, participative environment designed to foster personal change and long-term recovery from substance use. At DASA’s Aranda House, we embrace this model by encouraging residents to take responsibility for their recovery while actively contributing to the community’s wellbeing.

Key elements of the TC model include:

  • Collaborative and peer-supported recovery
  • Structured group therapy and community meetings
  • Focus on developing life skills, responsibility, and resilience
  • A non-judgemental, inclusive environment that supports emotional and behavioural growth

Candidates unfamiliar with the TC model should understand that this approach requires them to support clients not just through individual counselling but by engaging in community-driven recovery activities and helping maintain the therapeutic environment.
